In critical reading, we order the mind to follow a certain trend or pattern in assimilating the information. Think of reading in this way. When we are four or five years old, we learn the alphabet. We move on to the next class where we learn the three-letter words like ‘cat’, ‘bat’ and ‘mat’. In the next teachings we learn how to form sentences. Once we are familiar with this, we begin to use bigger words that have four or five letters like ‘tree’ and ‘house’. So the mind of the child follows this pattern. The mind searches for letters it is familiar with and looks for familiar sentence construction.
